Description of Terminology:
5G (5th Generation)

The term 5G refers to 5th-generation mobile communication systems. In Japan, the 3.7GHz, 4.5GHz, and 28GHz bands are allocated high frequency bands. Of these, 3.7GHz and 4.5GHz bands are called Sub6 because they are lower than the 6GHz band, while the 28GHz band is called millimeter wave.
While millimeter wave generally refers to wave bands between 30GHz and 300GHz, in Japan, the term millimeter wave includes the 28GHz.
(1) High-speed large capacity (eMBB: enhanced Mobile Broadband)
(2) High reliability low latency communications (URLLC: Ultra-Reliable and Low Latency Communications)
(3) Multiple parallel connection (mMTC: massive Machine Type Communication)
With these three features, use of 5G is anticipated for a wide range of applications such as 4K / 8K, VR / AR experiences, viewing sports, remote technologies, automatic operation and IoT.
