IOWN (Innovative Optical and Wireless Network) is a next-generation innovative communication network being developed by NTT Group and other organizations. One of the key components of IOWN is the All-Photonics Network (APN). The All-Photonics Network (APN) aims to achieve low power consumption, high quality, high capacity, and low latency in communication networks and data centers by extensively utilizing photonics-based technology (optical technology) from the network to the terminal. Among these, the technology that is attracting particular attention is the use of optical wiring with low loss compared to electronic circuits within IC chips through optoelectronic integration technology, aiming to achieve low-power consumption high-speed communication and high-speed processing in data centers and other applications. These technologies enable information and communication systems to chart a sustainable path of evolution, and are expected to promote the widespread adoption of high-speed, high-capacity wireless networks using RF wireless communication such as millimeter waves and sub-terahertz waves.
Waka Manufacturing offers a wide range of RF connectors, cables, and components compatible with millimeter waves to sub-terahertz waves. These products are characterized by their excellent RF performance with low insertion loss and low return loss, particularly in higher frequency ranges, and are widely used in applications ranging from embedded use in measurement and communication equipment to measurement purposes. Additionally, in the optoelectronics field, we have developed and commercialized millimeter-wave photodetectors (PDs) that convert optical signals into electrical signals and output them as millimeter-wave signals, as well as millimeter-wave-compatible analog RoF (Radio over Fiber) systems utilizing these technologies.
