What are RF waves?
RF waves generally refer to electromagnetic waves with frequencies higher than audible frequencies (frequencies that can be heard by the human ear, 20Hz to 20kHz). In the 3GHz and above band, it is used for the following applications.
Microwave (below 30GHz)
·Mobile phones: 5G communication (700MHz to 4.5GHz), 4G LTE (700MHz to 3.5GHz)
·Wi-Fi: 802.11ax (6GHz)
·Satellite communication: Ku band (12GHz to 18GHz), K band (18GHz to 26GHz)
·Radar: Used for various applications such as air traffic control, weather observation, ships, and automobiles.
Millimeter waves (30GHz or above)
·Mobile phones: Expansion of millimeter wave band usage is being considered as a next-generation communication standard.
·Wi-Fi: 802.11ad (60GHz)
·Satellite communication: Ka band (26GHz to 40GHz)
·Vehicle radar: 77GHz band is used for collision prevention in automobiles.
·Astronomical observation: Used for radio astronomical observation across a wide band from 30GHz to 300GHz.
